Is the Settle Cyprus Pass worth it, or should I do the paperwork myself?

Whether a Cyprus relocation service is worth it comes down to one honest question: which file are you facing, and can you read Greek and keep track of deadlines? For the light EU route — the Yellow Slip registration for EU/EEA citizens — the file is small and a careful, organised person can do it alone³. For the heavy non-EU route — the visitor's permit everyone calls the pink slip — the file is a bank guarantee, monthly income evidence, certified translations, medical tests and a strict renewal balance, all judged against a public checklist where a single missed item means starting over¹². That is where a service earns its price: not by doing anything you legally cannot, but by turning a checklist you would otherwise piece together under time pressure into a single ordered submission. Be clear about what no service can promise. Nobody outside the department controls the queue, and examination is only "usually completed before four months have passed" when the file is complete¹. A service that promises speed or guaranteed approval is selling you something it cannot deliver.

1. Identify which permit is actually yours. EU/EEA citizens register with the MEU1 process — the Yellow Slip — which is a lighter file with a smaller document list³. Third-country nationals apply for the visitor's temporary residence permit, the pink slip, which does not permit work and carries a much heavier evidence burden¹. Doing the wrong one is the most expensive mistake there is, and it happens before any paperwork is filed. 2. Count the moving parts. For the pink slip the checklist asks for an original clean criminal record certificate, original medical results covering hepatitis B and C, HIV, syphilis and a chest X-ray, a ten-year bank guarantee letter, income evidence, Plan A health insurance, and proof of accommodation — and every supporting document must be officially translated and duly certified¹². Count how many of those you can produce without help, and how many need a translator, a Cypriot bank appointment and a specialist doctor's stamp. 3. Be honest about Greek and deadlines. The application must be submitted before your visa expires, and an untranslated document is treated as a missing one¹. If you do not read Greek and cannot personally chase an appointment, the risk is not that you fail — it is that you file late or short and start again. 4. Price your own time. Add up the hours: reading the regulations, booking the bank and the doctor, arranging certified translations, assembling the file, and the cost of one rejected submission that sends you back to step one. Then compare that to the service price on our pricing page. If your file is the light EU Yellow Slip³ and you are organised, do it yourself. If it is the non-EU pink slip¹, the arithmetic usually points the other way.

These are the government costs you carry whether or not you use a service — a service does not remove them, it helps you meet them cleanly. Permit fees. Issuance or renewal of the residence permit costs €70, and a first registration in the Aliens' Register costs a further €70¹. Income you must prove (pink slip). The bank statement must show foreign remittances of no less than €2,000 per month, or €24,000 per year, for one person, rising by 20 percent for a spouse and 15 percent for each child². Money transferred abroad or to third parties, or rent collected locally, does not count². The balances that catch people. At renewal the balance in your Cyprus account must not be less than €6,000, described as three months' income, regardless of family size; for the first permit a transfer or deposit of at least €10,000 is also accepted². Examination time. The department states examination is usually completed within four months, and only when the file is sufficient¹. No service changes this.

Filing the wrong permit. EU citizens who queue for the pink slip, or non-EU visitors who think the permit lets them work — the visitor's permit rules out economic activity, full stop¹. Counting the wrong money. The income test looks only at remittances from outside Cyprus into your own account². People include the wrong transfers and fail on a technicality. Letting the account dip before renewal. The €6,000 floor is checked against the statement, not your intentions². Skipping certified translation. Every supporting document must be officially translated and duly certified; an untranslated one is simply missing¹. If you can reliably avoid all four alone, you may not need help. Is a relocation service worth it if I am an EU citizen? Often not. The Yellow Slip (MEU1) is a lighter file, and an organised person who can follow the official list can do it alone³. What does the Settle Cyprus Pass actually do? It organises the file: it lists every requirement in the order the department checks it, explains in plain language what each one means, and flags shortfalls before you submit. It does not file on your behalf, act as your lawyer, or speed up the queue — and we will not claim it does. Can any service make the permit faster? No. Examination time is the department's, not ours; it is usually within four months when the file is complete¹. What if my file is somewhere in between?
